St Catharine's Geographer awarded Royal Geographical Society Prize

Monday 28 September 2015

Congratulations to Geography alumna Victoria Bellamy (2012), who has been awarded the Royal Geographical Society Historical Geography Research Group Dissertation Prize for her undergraduate work on 'Cultivating virtuous citizens: conflicting spatial practices in London's Victoria Park'.

The judging panel felt that Victoria's dissertation was "the most thorough piece of historical research, not just in the empirical work undertaken but in engaging seriously with historical perspective to examine the complexities and processes that produce and reproduce places, identities and ideas."

Victoria, who graduated from St Catharine's in June, has been invited to present her work at the annual Practising Historical Geography conference at the end of October 2015. An official announcement is published on the HGRG website.
