Professor Sir John Savill, Regius Professor of Medical Science, University of Edinburgh will be talking on ‘The Future of Medical Research’ for this year's John Addenbrooke Lecture.

Professor Sir John Savill FRS FMedSci is a clinician scientist and nephrologist who has made major scientific contributions to our understanding of the role of cell death and macrophages in renal disease. He also played a major role in shaping academic training for clinicians in the UK and developing the UK biomedical research strategy as Chief Executive of the Medical Research Council.
