The Porter will be based primarily in the Porters’ Lodge on the Island site, although it will be necessary to visit our three off site hostels. The Lodge is the first focal point on arrival at the College, so a warm and positive impression by the post holder is essential.
The position is full-time, working 37.5 hours a week, and will require night and weekend working. In return, you will receive a competitive salary, excellent benefits and conditions of employment, including a pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, a free meal daily in hall and use of College facilities.
The post-holder duties are the same as the Lodge Porters duties but require greater flexibility. The Porter must cover holidays, sickness and other absences and on occasion will be required to cover shifts at very short notice and on a quick turn-around. The Porter will be rostered into the Porters Lodge watch system as the Lodge is continually manned. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a service related environment, have excellent communication and organisational skills and sound IT knowledge.
