Jonathan W Scott was Senior Partner and Chair of Herbert Smith Freehills, a leading international law firm, and was one of the country’s leading competition lawyers up to his retirement in 2015. He has been a non-executive director of the Gambling Commission and a trustee of the Family Holiday Association, and steps down as chair of the Competition and Markets Authority in September 2022.

Jonathan has enjoyed a longstanding connection with the city of Cambridge since his time as an undergraduate law student at St Catharine's (1975–78), and he is currently Chair of the Board of Governors for The Perse School in Cambridge and a longstanding member of the Development Committee of Kettle's Yard.
