Catz student announced as President for Cambridge’s Lightweight Men

Tuesday 14 September 2021

A St Catharine’s rower has been elected as one of four student presidents for the Cambridge University Boat Club (CUBC) for the new academic year. Matt Edge joined the College in 2018 to read Natural Sciences and will now serve as the Lightweight Men’s President for the 2021–22 season.

Matt commented, I am hugely honoured to be leading a team that has been such a great part of my life at Cambridge over the last two years. We are looking to build on the work put down by the Lightweight Men over the last few seasons and the successes of the newly unified CUBC to bring the race to Oxford come the spring.”

Since August 2020, the three separate rowing clubs that used to exist at the University of Cambridge – Cambridge University Boat Club, Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club, and Cambridge University Lightweight Rowing Club – combined to form a single new club.

Supporters can expect to cheer on CUBC at the Fours Head (13 November), Trial Eights (December), and the Boat Races (March/April).
