St Catharine's College is holding a Medicine taster day on Tuesday 3 July 2018, for high achieving students interested in studying particular subjects at the University of Cambridge. The day will give students the chance to hear talks from the Fellows of the college, meet current students, and also experience sample lectures, a tour of St Catharine's and the nearby lecture sites, and a lunch in the College hall.
The day is open to high achieving students in the lower sixth (Year 12). Due to demand, we are asking teachers to nominate students they think would benefit most from the taster days. Please nominate up to four students using the form below, and rank them according to academic ability. You are welcome to include a short statement in support of each student. We will endeavour to take at least one student from each school, though this may not be possible if the events prove popular.
The deadline for nominations for all subjects is Friday 27th April. Students invited to attend the taster day will hear from us by the middle of May.
For Medicine, students should be studying Chemistry and at least two out of Physics, Biology/Human Biology or Maths at A-level. Though it will be early in their studies, teachers should consider it likely that the students can meet the University's entry requirement of A* A*A in these subjects. Students should also have strong GCSE grades. IB applicants should be studying Chemistry and two other science/maths subjects, with at least two at Higher Level.
You may nominate students for as many taster days as you wish, but no more than four students for each day.
