"My research explores the phenomenon wherein feeding ghosts, one of the ways in which people in China and Japan pacified the malevolent dead, exploded in popularity for the ruling class in fourteenth-century Japan and what this can tell us about the relationship between ritual, cross-cultural exchange, and regime legitimacy. At Cambridge, I have been able to take advantage of an extremely active faculty and a University Library that, during the pandemic, supported my research with a wealth of online resources and the obtaining and scanning of materials that I needed. The college library at Catz was also very helpful in acquiring books for me in my first year."
