Catz student sails to victory

Wednesday 28 July 2021

Congratulations to St Catharine’s undergraduate student Olivia Jacklin on representing the University of Cambridge at two recent national sailing events organised by the British Universities Sailing Association (BUSA).

Alongside other members of the Cambridge University Cruising Club, Olivia won the Ladies BUSA Team Racing event held 12–13 June 2021 at Rutland Water Sailing Club. Good weather enabled a great many races to be sailed for the 8 teams competing. The victory represents the first BUSA crown for the Cambridge women’s team since 2013. Read the full race report.

Olivia was also a member of the Cambridge team that took silver at the BUSA Open Team Racing Event held 12–14 July 2021 at Spinnaker Sailing Club. With a reasonable though variable breeze, the mixed team triumphed over Southampton in the semi-final but then lost to Exeter in the final. Read the full report from the event.
