Friday 4 November 2022

The following highlights from various sports clubs and teams were compiled from recent reports. If any captains or team members have a result that you'd like to feature in the next round-up, please contact comms@caths.cam.ac.uk.

Netball

Seeking revenge on behalf of the College’s women’s team, the mixed team dispatched Sidney Sussex “in a crushing 11-3 victory… full of passion, pre-match brunch and chat”. (The Kittbag)

Hockey

The mixed team had a mix of highs and lows at the end of October: a 2-1 loss against a team representing Pembroke and Christ’s Colleges, followed by a 10-0 win over a combined team for Selwyn and Trinity Hall. They currently sit at fifth position in the Division 1 table. (Playwaze)

Football

The St Catharine’s men's second team has retained their position at the top of Division 4 after a 5-1 victory at home to Trinity College’s second team. (Cambridge University Association Football League - Division 4)

Sadly, the men’s first team was unable to score against Sidney Sussex, with their match finishing 1-0. (Cambridge University Association Football League - Division 2)

Meanwhile the women’s team joined forces with Gonville and Caius but is a little low on numbers and seeking recruits. (The Kittbag)

Lacrosse

After a week off, the mixed lacrosse team returned for a match against Newnham and Corpus (Newpus). The rest clearly did St Catharine’s the world of good with three goals scored in quick succession in the first half. Despite the slippery conditions, the team continued to play brilliantly, earning a convincing 5-1 win to move to the top of the league table! (Captains’ report)
