Open days

College Open Days are a great way to get an idea of what it's like to live and study here. They include introductory talks, question and answer sessions, mock interviews with current students, tours of the college with current students, and the opportunity to meet academic staff at the College who specialise in your subject.

We run College Open Days in July and September - the former adjacent to the Cambridge University Open Days, enabling you to attend both, if you choose, We also run some subject-specific taster days.

Parents and supporters are welcome to attend most elements of the open days if space permits, although candidates often attend the meetings with academic staff in applicant-only groups. Prospective applicants will also receive a free lunch in the College Dining Hall at open days; their accompanying parents or supporters can purchase a voucher for lunch. Schedules for the day and the lunch menu can be found in the download sidebar.

While open days can be an excellent way of informing your decisions about university, you should be assured that if you are unable to attend an open day, this will in no way affect the chances of success of any subsequent application.

Also, St Catharine's is always open to prospective applicants, even if the 'Closed to Visitors' sign is out. Just tell the Porters you are thinking of applying, and they will let you in to have a look around.

St Catharine's College Open Days

The 2018 St Catharine's open days (for all subjects) took place on the following dates. All the general college open days follow a similar format, but the summer dates have the advantage of being adjacent to the whole-university open days. Booking is now CLOSED for 2018.

  • Saturday 7 July 2018, 9.30am-4pm (all subjects)
  • Saturday 8 September 2018, 9.30am-4pm (all subjects)
  • Saturday 15 September 2018, 9.30am-4pm (all subjects) - FULLY BOOKED - SORRY!!!

We apologise wholeheartedly to those who are now unable to book for our college open days - they are now full. Please do feel free to peruse our webpages and email the admissions office with any queries you may have.

In 2019, we will be running a similar programme of general College Open Days, as well as taster days in selected subjects. Details of these events will be posted as soon as they become available.

Cambridge University Open Days 2019

The 2019 University Open Days will take place on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July 2019, from 9:30am-4:30pm. You can find more information about these on the University admissions site. On these days St Catharine's is very much open, with an information desk at the front of the College, tours with students, and informal drop-ins with some directors of studies so you can ask more questions about your particular subject.

You need to book a place on Cambridge University Open Days, but once you've done that, you do not need to book to come into St Catharine's on these days - we'll be out the front of the college under a big red gazebo waiting to welcome you!

Booking for St Catharine's College Open Days 2018

Please note: if you are attending one of our College or University Open Days, you can if you wish book bed-and-breakfast accommodation on adjacent nights. Click this link to book. You must be accompanied by at least one guest who is aged 21 or over.

Please note that your data may be retained for up to 18 months. Initially this is so we can organise attendee lists for the open day and keep you informed. Thereafter we will use the data to assess the effectiveness of our open days - for example by calculating how many attendees eventually apply to, or gain places at, St Catharine's in the following admissions round. We will not look at this data during our admissions selection process - attending an open day does not affect your chances of gaining an offer of a place.
