Sports highlights (Weeks 1 & 2)

The following highlights from various sports clubs and teams were compiled from recent reports. If any captains or team members have a result that you'd like to feature in the next round-up, please contact comms@caths.cam.ac.uk.

Rugby

An impressive start for the men’s team (combined with Homerton College), who were pitted against a combined Pembroke-Girton team on 14 October and came away with a 46-5 victory – the highest score from the opening weekend of intercollegiate rugby. (CURFU College Rugby)

Hockey

The College’s mixed hockey team started the year with a 4-2 victory against a combined St John’s-Newnham team and are riding high as joint leaders of Division 1. (University of Cambridge Sport)

Netball

The St Catharine’s ladies netball team recently celebrated promoted to Division 2 but now face tougher competition. Their first match against Girton College ended as a 3-13 defeat. (Playwaze)

The season for the mixed team doesn’t start until Saturday 21 October, when they face Emmanuel College.
