Enhancing accessibility in our central spaces

The new and refurbished social spaces will enhance College community and inclusivity, addressing the access and audibility limitations associated with the current Hall.

The levelling of the ground floor and installation of the lift and powered access doors will enhance all-round accessibility.

The careful positioning of the lift within the new atrium will ensure full access to residential floors on the upper levels, resolving the inherited issue of differing floor levels between the 17th century and 1960s parts of the College.

This is increasingly important to the College as there are members of our community and visitors who will greatly benefit from easier access and this increases inclusivity for future college members.

It is also important that the design and operation of the development provides comfortable spaces for all parts of our community to interact. New shared areas will benefit from acoustic control and design, daylight and thermal comfort.
