College Chaplain publishes new book

Monday 2 September 2019

Our Chaplain, The Rev’d Ally Barrett (2019) has recently published a book entitled Preaching with All Ages. She says:

“Before coming to St Catharine’s, I spent four years teaching ministry students, following eleven years in parish ministry and a year as a children’s minister; this book brings together a lot of what I’ve learned along the way.  It encourages preachers to use reflective practice in order to grow in confidence and competence, enabling them to preach in a way that’s more participatory, embracing multi-sensory engagement and even improvisation.  It also connects good practice in preaching with some of the values that help us live well as human beings in a complex world.  It’s been a fun book to write (it even has pictures!) and I hope that it will be a useful contribution – there’s not a lot written about the theory and values of all age preaching and how these look in real life, so it fills a gap on the bookshelf.”

The book is available from many retailers, and can be found here

Ally will also be speaking at the Festival of Preaching on Monday 9 September, find out more here.
