Student supports schools in Kenya

Wednesday 11 December 2019

St Catharine's student Kiran Manthry (2018, Economics) was invited to an Award Ceremony at the Mansion House, the Official Residence of the Lord Mayor of London, on Friday 6 December. Following a successful application to the Lord Mayor's 800th Anniversary Awards Trust, Kiran and his team member raised money for their charity project in Kenya last summer. The project co-operated with Education Partnerships Africa - a charity which takes students from UK universities to invest in secondary schools in East Africa. Kiran spent ten weeks in Kenya to help local schools improve the key infrastructure, which is a critical aspect for the student experience and education quality. At the drinks reception, they met the Lord Mayor William Russell and other Trustees. They also shared their experience with other recipients of the grant.
