General Ledger Accountant

This new post, reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, will support the finance team in providing accurate financial information to the College, and will support with the production of timely, accurate and complete financial information. The General Ledger Accountant will be working as part and alongside a small, experienced finance team. 

The General Ledger accountant will support the timely and accurate completion of the monthly trial balance, to include supporting with month end routines, supporting the sales ledger function and supporting the purchase ledger function.  Additionally, the post holder will work closely with the Senior Management Accountant, to provide support in the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.

The successful candidate will be a part-qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA Operational Level/ ACCA Applied Knowledge) or have a similar level of experience gained from working within the finance profession. They will have experience of working in a finance function, preparing monthly accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, as well as supporting the preparation of year end accounts.

Employment arrangements

  • This is a permanent appointment (subject to a 6 month probation period)
  • Hours are 37.5 hours per week (full time)
  • Competitive salary of FTE £38,000-£42,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
