Maintenance Supervisor

Based in the heart of Cambridge, St Catharine’s College is looking to appoint a full time Maintenance Supervisor to join our busy, friendly Maintenance team, providing a first-class service for our college community.

The successful candidate will provide day to day supervisory leadership to maintenance team members. This will include having oversight in the upkeep, repair and improvements of property, plant, and equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor will lead team members to perform maintenance work in a manner that improves equipment reliability and ensures that regulatory and safety standards are met and will assist with the implementation of maintenance objectives, oversee scheduling of work and leading team projects.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A self-motivated individual with strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to motivate and manage a team successfully
  • Experienced in maintenance and fault finding with the willingness to undertake CPD
  • IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office

 

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Inspecting buildings regularly to identity problems and necessary maintenance
  • Preparing weekly planned maintenance schedules and allocating work
  • Supervising and providing training support to team members
  • Updating and maintaining asset registers ensuring the correct maintenance programme is assigned to ensure optimal availability and resilience
  • Complying with all health and safety regulations and practices on site - ensuring a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety and wellbeing
  • Conducting safety inspections on contractors and employed team members
  • Handling emergency situations and after-hours calls for repair and maintenance incidents. (Some overtime may be required at short notice in the event of an emergency)
  • Taking an active part in developing maintenance policies and standards for the College
  • Maintaining relationships and collaborating with other operational departments to ensure efficiency and team working across the College estate
  • Completing operational reports to inform of required repairs, upgrades and new installations
