St Catharine's College May Ball 2016

This year, a dedicated team of students organised a most grandiose May Ball on Wednesday, June 15. The theme of the Ball was ‘Infusion’, and offered to 1,200 guests a blend of sounds, sights and tastes to electrify the senses. Each College space was transformed into an extravagantly distinctive display—the Main Court was turned into ‘Kaleidoscope’, Chapel Court became ‘The Long Island’, and the McGrath Centre made over to form ‘The Laboratory’, just to name a few.

Entertainment at the Ball was aplenty, including Churchill Casino, a Coconut Shy, never-before-seen Edible Mist Orbs, and musical acts like the cool and grimy Tinchy Stryder, the electric Brass Funkeys and the crowd-pleasing Swede Dreamz ABBA Tribute Band. A wide variety of food and drink was provided, including many Cambridge favourites like Smokeworks, Nanna Mexico, The Urban Shed, U-Sushi, Jack’s Gelato and Guerrilla Kitchen. A selection of fine wines, delectable chocolates, gourmet cheeses and robust whiskeys were also featured in our SCR for attendees to indulge in. The night ended with a ceilidh band in Main Court, a Silent Disco in the McGrath Centre and a Cereal Bar in the Hall, leaving guests with plenty to remember before the next event in 2018.
