St Catharine's is executing a selective, planned renewal of buildings to support College operations, ensuring Members enjoy a high standard of communal life, while also increasing opportunities for revenue generation.
Building work for the Central Spaces Project was completed in October 2022. Work has now commenced at our St Chad’s site and we look forward to sharing updates of this exciting project with you. The focus now is to raise funds for a much-needed renovation of our Hobson’s building on the Island Site.
Supporting the renovation of Hobson’s
Constructed in the 1930s, Hobson’s has remained largely untouched since 1960. There is a need to restore this much loved building to cater for the College's needs today. As well as bringing the rooms up to modern standards and adding ensuite bathrooms, a key focus will be increasing the accessibility of the building. Refurbishment will be of a high specification for term time accommodation to students, and provide an attractive building for alumni to stay in when attending College events, alongside offering significant rental appeal for conference business.
We are seeking support to revitalize this much loved College building to ensure that Hobson’s is once again choice accommodation. The estimated cost of this project is £3 million to restore this stunning building to its former glory, and improve the function and facilities within.
