The following highlights from various sports clubs and teams were compiled from recent reports. If any captains or team members have a result that you'd like to feature in the next round-up, please contact comms@caths.cam.ac.uk.

Lacrosse

A brilliant first performance for the College's mixed team against Churchill kicked off the new season. With a team made up of mostly lacrosse novices, it was exciting to see the passion and skill on show. St Catharine's ended up winning 3-2, scoring late in the second half. Two first-year undergraduates walked away with Catch of the Match (Lizzie Lotery) and Player of the Match (Will Chapman). (Captains' report)

Football

The men's second team also enjoyed success against Churchill, launching themselves to the top of the table with a 4-0 victory. (Cambridge University Association Football League - Division 4)

The men's first team had an even more promising start to the season with a 7-0 win against King's. (Cambridge University Association Football League - Division 2)

Netball

The first match back for the women's team was "a high scoring game" pitted against Sidney Sussex, which sadly favoured our opponents. The match ended as a 28-2 loss. (The Kittbag)

The mixed team faired better though, making "a dazzling return to the third division". Despite being down in the first quarter, the final score was "an impressive 8-3 victory" over Fitzwilliam. (The Kittbag)

Rugby Union

The men's team set expectations high for the season to come after "a resounding 50-24 victory" against the combined forces of Lucy Cavendish/Churchill/Magdalene. Official fixtures start tomorrow against Downing. (SCCRUFC)
