Welcoming our new Global Executive MBA students

Wednesday 31 January 2024

St Catharine’s is delighted to have welcomed the first group of students to ever embark on the new Global Executive MBA (EMBA) offered by the Cambridge Judge Business School.  With St Catharine’s admitting 30 out of the 46-strong cohort who joined the programme in January 2024, a special matriculation dinner was held in their honour earlier this month.

The 20-month Global EMBA consists of four week-long blocks of teaching in Cambridge during which students can make the most of St Catharine’s facilities, which are only a short walk from the Cambridge Judge Business School. There are also two separate weeks of face-to-face teaching in other countries, and live online sessions that include international speakers and panel discussions with global leaders.

The programme is led by a Fellow of St Catharine’s, Professor Simon Taylor (2009), who serves as Director of the Global EMBA programme alongside his responsibilities as Management Practice Professor of Finance at Cambridge Judge Business School. The programme has the same admissions criteria, syllabus, assessment and degree as the existing Cambridge EMBA and is taught by Cambridge Judge Business School faculty.

Professor Taylor commented, “The new Global EMBA is a very exciting chapter in the successful EMBA programme at Cambridge Judge Business School. It includes teaching in Cambridge and elsewhere around the world, combined with online sessions that bring a further international element to the programme through speakers from across the globe. Cambridge Judge recognises that students have different work and personal circumstances, so the Global EMBA represents a programme that some individuals may find useful.”

St Catharine’s remains a popular choice for Cambridge Judge students who wish to join a Cambridge College. Alongside Professor Taylor, St Catharine’s has appointed Professor Peter Wothers MBE (1997) as an additional Fellow to enable the College to continue to foster relationships with the Cambridge Judge’s faculty, staff and students.

Professor Wothers added, “It is fantastic that so many Global EMBA students want to be part of our community and St Catharine’s is closely involved in the programme from its very start. It has been a genuine pleasure meeting these students and I’m looking forward to ensuring that this first cohort – and those that follow – benefit from our usual warm welcome and support.”
